  • Customs Compliance Specialist (Succession to Director of Compliance)

    Description: Border Brokers is hiring a Customs Compliance Specialist in Winnipeg, MB. This planned succession role offers a clear path into the Director of Compliance position as the current leader transitions to retirement. We’re seeking a CCS-designated professional with 6+ years’ customs brokerage experience. Competitive salary, benefits, signing bonus, and relocation support within Canada available.

    Duties:
    Border Brokers is seeking an experienced professional to ensure compliance with Canadian Customs regulations and lead staff within the Compliance department. This is a planned succession role: you will work alongside the current Director of Compliance, who is approaching retirement, and transition into the senior management role (outlined for near term). Duties include tariff classification, valuation, client communication, audit support, and training. Relocation assistance is offered for candidates moving from within Canada.

    POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for handling all aspects of import shipments from pre-arrival to billing.Dealing directly with clients and operational staff in a friendly considerate manner. Lumber experience is a plus.

    QUALIFICATION SECTION: The ideal candidate will be well qualified in the following areas:
    – High School diploma or equivalent
    – One to two years of brokerage/office experience
    – Accurate data entry skills
    – Excellent Communication skills

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Release and classify basic import shipments-May be assigned additional tasks-May be assigned or cross-trained in duties similar to current duties-Stays up to date on Customs and procedure changes-Actively pursue new sales leads and discuss and sell our various services with current clients, sending information timely to manager or other designated person
