CERS Replacing the CAED System

CERS Replacing The CAED System

Is your company exporting goods outside of Canada and currently using paper B13A’s or CAED?

As of September 30, 2020, the CBSA will no longer accept paper B13A’s and/or declarations using the Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) system.

Exporters or service providers will be required to report exports electronically. Two electronic reporting methods are available to report goods: (1) the Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS) and (2) the G7 Export Reporting Electronic Data Interchange (G7-EDI).

Exporters are encouraged to register for CERS immediately. CERS is a web-based, self-service portal for exporters to submit electronic declarations directly to CBSA. To begin, submit a completed application form to the Commercial Registration Unit: cbsa.export_program-programme_exportation.asfc@cbsa-asfc.gc.ca

Application form and additional information can be found on Customs Notice 19-14. https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/cn-ad/cn19-22-eng.html

How to submit an export declaration can be found at: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/export/reporting-declaration-eng.html

Exporters interested in a CERS Portal account can access the CERS Portal here: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/cers-scde/portal-portail/menu-eng.html

Please contact the Consulting Team at AD Rutherford for questions or concerns with CERS. Our team of experts are more than happy to assist through this process.
